Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, character development program for girls
in 3rd through 8th grade.  Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and
confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

They use the power of running to provide girls with the tools to:

Celebrate their bodies
Honor their voices
Recognize their gifts, and
Activate their personal power

Philip Glass "Glass Pieces" at The New York City Ballet

Shifting Patterns and Repetitive Rhythms

are the heartbeat that drives the NYC Ballet Ensemble
set against metropolitan architecture and urban choreography

 

"Glass Pieces" was first performed at the New York City Ballet in 1983
and choreographed by Jerome Robbins.

In this video, Georgina Pazcoguin and Adrian Danchig-Waring talk about how the
Corps makes the dance in this Robbins favorite with music by Philip Glass.

Interview with Jamie Broza and his dog Dusty

Recently, Jamie and Dusty sat down, rolled over and answered a few questions for their fans. 

 

DUSTY:

JAMIE:

Paws: 4

Nails: Long (Not So Clean)

Where were you born?

Jamie: Manhattan, in a mid-town hospital.

Dusty: In the dog house.

 

Who rescued you?

Jamie: My wife Margot.

Dusty: My friends at the North Shore Animal League.

 

Where did you learn about music?

Jamie: My father was a musical director who dragged me to recording sessions featuring the likes of Fred Astaire, Zero Mostel and Ann-Margret.

Dusty: I’m a natural. I’ve been howling at the moon since I was a pup.

 

What’s your favorite food?

Jamie: A delicious fresh salad.

Dusty: Chicken wing or shrimp tail found on the sidewalk.

 

Favorite yoga pose?

Jamie: Downward-facing dog.

Dusty: Upward-facing belly. (Scratch me, please!)

 

Favorite activity?

Jamie: Chasing mice! Like the 3 blind ones on tracks 5, 11 and 16.

Dusty: Chasing cats! Like Charlie on track 13.

 

Least favorite activity?

Jamie: Shampooing Dusty.

Dusty: Taking a bath.

 

What do you hope to accomplish with this CD?

Jamie: That people will adopt more rescue animals!

Dusty: That I’ll get more treats! (And that people will adopt more rescue animals!)

 

20% of the profits from this CD will go to the North Shore Animal League America.

Brooklyn Woman Dances Her Way To Becoming Miss America

 Miss New York Mallory Hagan Tap Dancing to James Brown

 

 Hagan, a 23-year-old Fashion Institute of Technology student from Park Slope, Brooklyn

Hagan’s title as Miss America 2013 gives her a $50,000 scholarship and a yearlong run as
an advocate and role model. As Miss New York 2012, she focused on child sexual abuse
awareness and prevention, an issue that hits close to home.
